Soup and Monkeys!

Workout today:
3.1 miles easy and six striders just to shake the legs out before the race tomorrow and break in the new pair of shoes.

Breakfast was an english muffin with laughing cow cheese, an apple, and cottage cheese with strawberries (mmmm).  Strawberries have been out of season or expensive for the past few months so I haven’t had them in a while and I really missed them.  So good!!

I met my friend Karen to pick up our packets for the race tomorrow, yay!  I was excited that my race shirt fit, even if it wasn’t a technical tee (yes, I’ve turned into a race tshirt snob).  Why is it that we get so excited for a t-shirt that almost never fits and we paid good money for? Lol:).

This one is pretty cute, though.  Even if it has monkeys on it, haha.

Eric was gone most of the day today so I mostly caught up on things around the house.  I decided to make a kale, cannellini, and kielbasa soup recipe I’ve been wanting to try for a while.

Lunch was an awesome turkey sandwich with red pepper (they were on sale this week), avocado, spinach, and honey mustard.  A.W.E.S.O.M.E.

Dinner was supposed to be spaghetti and meatballs, but Eric and I decided at the last minute to go see an early showing of True Grit so instead we just ate some of the soup (plus a piece of garlic toast) I made.  It was very good!  Check out the recipe in my favorite recipe section.

I also shoved two Tagalong cookies in my face on the way out the door to the movie…but you don’t get a picture of that, sorry!

Tomorrow I am running the Love the Run You’re With 5k!  I am still feeling rusty after a few months off after Nation’s triathlon, and I am focused on the half ironman in May, so I plan on treating tomorrow more like a speed workout than a race.  I also am running it with a few friends, so it should be fun!

Check back for a race update tomorrow!
What is your favorite race t-shirt?
Mine is probably a Brooks long-sleeve technical t-shirt I received for doing the Parks Half Marathon.  It is such a small, low-key race compared to some of the ones I’ve done but with an awesome course, t-shirt, and post race festival.  I haven’t done this one since 2007 (it was the same day as Nation’s last year) but I hope to do it again this year!
