Bike – 50 minutes (stationary)
Run – 20 minutes (treadmill)
This week a friend of mine who has been going through a really tough time blogged about finding happiness in the little things in life. Her situation has made me realize how important it is to not take a single day of my life for granted.
I’m sorry, but please forgive me for getting sappy on you guys for a minute. I promise I’ll go back to posting 8,000 food pictures and telling you weird things about myself soon:).
Too often in life I find myself waiting for the next big thing. I am the QUEEN of countdowns. Countdowns to weddings, countdowns to races, countdowns to VACATIONS, etc.
There is actually only one on my desktop right now (countdown until my half ironman!), plus a remaining countdown from my wedding:). There probably would be more if I actually had a vacation planned:/.
The problem with countdowns is that they often make me feel like I am just itching to get through another day so I can cross one more day off! How often have you found yourself saying “just three more days of work until the weekend” or “just two more weeks until vacation”? I know I do it ALL the time.
Well, I don’t want to live my life constantly waiting for Friday or for the next big thing. I am going to try really hard to stop just “getting through the week” and try and slow down and enjoy each and every day. I am going to try harder to appreciate the little things!
Here are some of the things that make me happy today:
Banana and cocoa oatmeal for breakfast!
Getting a good workout in today!
My wonderful family! I had dinner at my parents tonight, and it was great to catch up with them:).
Puppy sitting my parent’s two adorable black labs!
Finding a GIANT box of Girl Scout cookies in my parent’s dining room (you know I’ll be opening one of these soon).
And finally, having warm feet while I blog!
What makes YOU happy!?
