Insomnia Egg Salad and Grocery War Part 2

Monday workout:
Rest day!  I wanted to go for a walk or do some cross training on Monday, but I had a long day at school and it just didn’t happen:(.  Oh well, I guess it’s better than missing a scheduled work out!
—————————————————

Last night I could NOT fall asleep for some reason!:(  I also could not stop thinking about food!  (Obsessed much?)  I wasn’t hungry–I was just thinking about cooking!  After over an hour of tossing and turning I finally just gave up and got out of bed.

I decided to make some egg salad for lunches this week.  I used a recipe from my “The Food You Crave” cookbook by Ellie Krieger.

This picture is from today, obviously, not from 1:00 am when I actually made it–it was too dark to take a good picture:).  I posted the recipe under my recipes tab:).  Speaking of, you’ll notice I cleaned up the recipe section and added a couple of new ones.  I also added a button for you to follow me on twitter.  Exciting, I know!

I love Ellie Krieger! “The Food You Crave” has a bunch of great fresh/healthy recipes.

Breakfast today was some leftover banana-chocolate chip pancakes and syrup yogurt that I grabbed on my way out the door at 7:00 this morning (and heated up in the school lounge)!  Mmmm…

Who says you can’t have a good lunch when you’re in a rush?  My classmates were totally jealous;).

Lunch was an egg salad sandwich and some Kielbasa, Kale, and Cannellini Soup.

A-MA-ZING!:)

Sunday I went to the grocery store and if you’re keeping track of my grocery store game, I only hit 27 percent this week:(.

I blame it on some of the things I “had” to get this week, like cat food and pumpkin pie spice.

Okay, so maybe I didn’t have to get pumpkin pie spice, but I have a new recipe to try this week and I had everything else for it.  I’m not going to tell you what I’m making yet, but the fact that it has pumpkin pie spice in it means you should be excited!:)

Also as a follow up to my post about grocery store war, I have some proof for you that you have to pay attention to those sneaky price tags.

This was taken on my iPhone at Walmart today.  I am terrible at math, but even I can figure out that two for $4.33 when one costs $1.97 is not actually a “special value”!!  And no, this is not just a mistake, I noticed the same thing a couple of years ago!

This was taken at Safeway on Sunday.  It’s hard to tell from the picture, but the small size is “on sale” for the same price as the large size.  Why?  Haha:).

I’m off to get a tempo run in!  PS, Skinny Runner is having a Gu giveaway!:)  Go here to enter!

PPS, tomorrow is my BIRTHDAY!!!:)  I’m excited!!  I’ll give you another teaser–expect some awesome old school birthday photos tomorrow!  Man, a recipe with pumpkin pie spice AND embarrassing photos of me!?  Now you guys are probably as excited for tomorrow as I am, right?!;)
————————————–

Did you watch The Bachelor “Women Tell All” last night?
-I am sad to admit that bad reality TV is one of my guilty pleasures!  You better believe I watched last night (although I did DVR it and fast forward quite a bit through the boring parts).  I loved the Michelle drama, though!

Do you have any tricks for falling asleep at night?
-I tried counting backwards from a really high number…which sometimes works for me, but not last night!:(

When I was little & could not sleep, I asked my favourite Aunt Joey what I could do to help me sleep. She told me to repeat the word “black board” over & over in my head. Not sure if it was just because it was my favourite aunt who gave me this advice but it sure did work! However, lately when I can’t sleep, I try to take a few deep breaths then, breathe normally but pay attention to your breathing. Or….and this always works like a charm for me….drink a bottle of wine! Sweet Dreams! 😉
