Not Feeling Well

Monday workout:
Rest day!!

Tuesday workout:
Rest — Today was supposed to be a swim/bike day but I was not feeling well when I got home from school today and never made it out to do my workout:(.  I am not happy about having two days off in a row but I am hoping it’s better than making myself so sick that I have to take more than two days off.


I signed up for the Runner’s World Quote of the Day feature a while ago and so far most of them have been kind of random quotes from pro athletes (vs. “motivational” quotes), but recently there were a few I really liked, so I will share one with you today.

I love this quote (and I love Deena Kastor)!  One of the main reasons I love running/triathlons is because I love challenging my mind and body!  I love the challenge of every workout and the challenge of pushing yourself in a race.  Even when you don’t succeed you always learn something about yourself and are able to take that with you into your life and your training in the future.

They posted the pictures from the race on Saturday.  Speaking of challenging myself…can you tell these hills were really challenging me?

Could my shoulders be any higher?  This was the finish and if you read my post from Saturday you know I was hurting at this point.  Also, I don’t think I have a single running photo of me looking normal.  Not one.

Well, I don’t know if the ice bath was really that awesome or it was just the placebo effect, but either way I’ll take it!  My legs felt GREAT on Monday!  Okay, well maybe “great” is a bit of an exaggeration, but they definitely did not feel like they did 40 miles on Sunday, that’s for sure!  I had zero aches in my joints and no sore muscles…just a little bit of burning in my quads walking up the stairs at school:).

I may be an official ice bath convert!!

Monday I wore one of the new sweaters I got for my birthday!!  It was really early and Eric wasn’t awake yet so I apologize for the Myspace-ey picture.

Yay for new cute work clothes!:)

Dinner Monday was mango salsa soup and leftover Thai chicken wraps from my Birthday dinner Saturday.  Mmm.  I think I am obsessed with these lettuce wraps.

Then I watched The Bachelor season finale with my friend!!!  Were you guys surprised by the ending?  I am guessing everyone saw that coming.  I was kind of surprised by the after special, though.  It’s sad but I am guessing they are not going to make it:/.

Dinner tonight was Barilla Plus pasta with turkey meatballs and broccoli!  Yum!


Do you have any good running pictures?
-I have a couple of decent bike pictures, but I think it is impossible to take a picture of me running where I look normal.  My horrible running pictures pale in comparison to the horribleness of the pictures of me getting out of the water in triathlons, though.  I look like some horrible sea creature emerging from the bottom of the river.  You would be scarred for life if you saw those.

Have you had the Cheesecake Factory lettuce wraps?  Are there other restaurant dinners you’re obsessed with?
-I love Bonefish Grill’s shrimp with mango salsa!!  Eric actually did a pretty good job of recreating that on Sunday!!

    I think i’ve only had one good race picture ever. haha, they all look like i’m some crazy person…but i guess that is what we are. Crazy! hope you get feeling better soon

    The sweater looks adorable on you and the color is perfect, yay! I have a few racing photos that I love but they usually involve steeple (since the barriers always make you look cool) or are taken early in races. Any taken near the end would remind me of the pain I try to block from my mind for next time I race so I try to avoid looking at those as often 🙂

    • I love the sweater–thank youuuuu!!!:) The other one is cute, too! That’s true, maybe if they took more photos earlier in the run I would look slightly better, but most of them in the road races are at the finish:/. Or in the tris I’ve already swam and biked so I already look pretty tired;). Maybe one day I’ll get a good one…

    • I do love it! I love the other one too–I’ll have to take another picture when I wear it:). Haha…my brother told me it looked like I was about to sneeze…he’s kind of right, haha. But my theory with running pics is if it looks too good you’re not running hard enough;).

    • Thanks, Corey! I am feeling better tonight! It was just a little bout of ickiness, luckily. I was really scared of the ice bath but once I got in there it wasn’t so bad! The fleece helped, too, haha–even though it made me feel like even more of a nerd!:)

    Eeeeewwww….ice bath sounds kinda cold…lol. I just started working out again after a few months of doing nothing. Did a leg work out on Monday & thought I took it easy. Tuesday wasn’t so bad but by Wednesday, I felt like I was going to die from the pain. Maybe an ice bath would have done me some good. Hmmmmmm….

    • Aww, I hate having to get back into workout out when I’ve been off for a while. It’s always a slow and frustrating process! The ice bath was pretty drastic, but it really did seem to work!:)
