I realize I’m a little late here, but I wanted to tell you about my wonderful brunch on Sunday. I met up with some new DC blogger friends, Beth, Chloe, and Stephanie at Lyon Hall in Arlington. I had never been to Lyon Hall before, but I loved it!
The girls were so wonderful! We chatted up a storm, and found out all kinds of fun things we had in common. I found out Stephanie’s first tri was Philly 2008, with Team in Training DC…my first tri was Philly 2009, with Team in Training DC!! Too funny!!
Plus, I loved not feeling like a crazy person when I took out my camera when the coffee and food came (although we probably looked more crazy when ALL four of us were taking pictures of our food at the same time:).
I was in BAD need of coffee on Sunday. French press coffee…yum.
And another picture, just because it was so pretty!
The doctor thinks it may be plantar fasciitis, but from some of the description I’m not really sure. But, either way, if it’s some sort of tendon-type issue, the treatment is basically rest, ice, stretching, and anti-inflammatory medicine. So, for the next week, I’m only supposed to swim and bike–no running. After that, I get to run a little bit and see how it feels. If I still have pain after that, then it’s off to the podiatrist.
So, I may be panicking a little bit. I hate just not knowing. I was already starting to get very nervous about my half ironman in a week and a half, but now I am really freaking out. Will I be able to do it? What if I start and get all the way through the swim, and bike, and then I can’t finish the run?
I’ve had a few people tell me to just “run through it” or “walk the run section” …but I don’t really know if that’s possible. I am always the person that runs through injuries. I always think “the doctor is just going to tell me to rest, anyway, so I might as well keep running on it, and if it gets worst I rest, if it gets better I keep going!” But this pain is the kind of pain I can’t run through, at least not for 13.1 miles. I also don’t know if I could even walk on it for 13.1 miles, or if I would make the time cutoff for the race if I did that!
So many questions, and so much to worry about, but nothing I can do about it. All I can do is rest, do as much of my rehab as I can, and hope for best!
Please keep your fingers crossed for my foot!!

What’s your favorite brunch food? Are you a pancakes/french toast person, or an egg person?
– I don’t know why, because I do enjoy eggs, but I never crave them. Bring on the syrup!!
Oh, and happy Cinco de Mayo! Any plans to celebrate?
-I love a good cinco de mayo celebration, but I don’t love really crowded Mexican restaurants where you can’t get the waiter to bring you a glass of water even though you ask five times (that’s what happened to me last year). I don’t have any plans to celebrate as of right now, but as today is my last grad school class EVER, so I may just have to find some way to celebrate tonight:).
