Well, as you probably guessed, I haven’t been around much this week because of my THESIS. I know, I’m sorry, I am as sick of talking about it as you guys probably are of hearing about it:). Almost. Done.
Here is a quick rundown of some of the more exciting things that happened this week:
1. Baby girl! Noooooo, Eric and I are not having a baby! I am talking about a baby girl of the feline kind.
Eric and I have been contemplating adopting a new cat to keep cat Oscar company. We finally saw this sweet girl at the adoption center and decided to go for it!
Her name is Kali, and she has been a dedicated, although not very helpful, study buddy this past week.
(I don’t have any good pictures of her awake, because when she’s awake she’s just a big blur:)
2. Triathlon adventures. My brother, my husband, and I signed up for the Luray Sprint Triathlon on August 14! I am super excited to do a triathlon with my brother AND my husband. This will be the first triathlon for both of them!
3. Giveaway Winner! Okay, I am sorry for making you wait so long for the announcement! But the winner of the Allied Medal Display giveaway is Heather, from Miss FancyPants Tris!!! Heather, please send me an email with your contact info. If you didn’t win but still want to purchase a display, Lauren has a coupon code for 10% off your order (LAURENSTRIBLOG).
4. Fitblogger Post. I am writing a feature for Fitblogger called “All Things Oats.” That’s right, I can finally take my oatmeal obsession to another level! You can check out my first post and leave me some comment love, here:).
That’s it for now! I miss you all and can’t wait to have you back in my life on a regular basis again:).
Good luck finishing up the thesis! And ADORABLE little kitten 😀 Way to adopt!
Thank you so much:). And she is my third cat that we’ve adopted:) (we still have Oscar, and my poor Oliver passed away last year from cancer:().
Your kitten is adorable! I love how she’s helping you work on your thesis 🙂
Haha, I love her so much. The picture of her on top of my arm was just ridiculous, but she is just so cute it’s hard to push her away:).
OMG your kitty is SO CUTE!!!
Aw, thank you! I would happen to agree with you;)
OOo I am sooo sad I did not win this. haha. but happy to hear from you and that u are almost done!! also happy that you got such a cutie cat. meanwhile, my freaking disqus is gone! it just went poof unbeknownst to me and now the hubby has to fix it so thanks for the comment. I am surprised how many people drive a stick. I feel like I might kill myself in it in the snow.
I know, I’m sorry:( I wanted everyone to win:(. Man, I can’t believe disqus just left on you! I actually like stick more in the bad weather because I feel like I have more control. When you’re stuck in the snow you can easily move into a lower gear to get more power, etc:).
I love those pictures! Kittens are adorable.
Thanks, Amy! Trying to keep up with all of the adorable dog pics you post:).
I never thought I’d meet someone who liked oatmeal as much as me. WIN. Can’t wait to read your FB post!
Haha, Em I just realized my FB post this time was about the french toast oatmeal, which you already tried! Sorry for the let down, I hope I can make it up to you with the next one!:)
what a cute kitty!!
Thanks, Katie! Gotta try and keep up with your adorable dog pics).
That kitten is so cute! I debated a second cat for a while but then decided my cat would likely be really mad at me (and how could I test to find out for sure). Good luck finishing up that thesis!
Yeah, I was really worried about that, too, and that was the reason for the long debate (I really wanted another cat, but I wasn’t sure how Oscar would feel about it). Oscar is really shy, so I was worried he would retreat more if a new more outgoing cat came into the picture. It’s still early, but so far she actually seems to have brought him out of his shell a little bit more! He started off a little afraid, then would sit in the background and watch her play, and now he’s joining in on play time! We said if they didn’t get along we could always return her to the shelter, but of course I would have been heartbroken if we had to do that! But I’m glad they can both have company when we are at work and such.
OMG OMG OMG! Congrats on Kali! she is so adorable sprawled out all over your thesis 😉
Haha, thanks, Jenn! I know, she just melts my heart:).
Aw, Kali is adorable!! Thats great you signed up for a Tri in August! I am searching for a good race to do between July/August but there seems to be nothing longer than a 5K here in PA! (anyone have suggestions?)
Good luck on the thesis, yikes!
Thank you! Yeah I am excited. I am not sure what my foot will be up to, but hopefully it will hold up for just a short one. I am just excited to get back into it and to do one with my husband and brother, and with the heat on top of that I don’t plan on really racing it. Hmm, don’t know of anything, but then I am not really a Philly girl. I will let you know if I hear of/see anything!
Nice sleeping kitten montage =P
Hehe, I’m glad you approve:).
Can’t wait to read your fitbloggin post – about to do that right now.
By the way, what website do you get daily running quotes from? I’d love to get them too!!
Yay! It is through Runner’s World. To be honest, only about 25% of them good…the others are just random famous runner quotes, but I still enjoy it:).
Awwwwww… sweet little Kali… I just want to cuddle with her! You are brave to keep her around in the middle of your thesis writing! I would be way too distracted!
She IS a bit of a distraction, but if she weren’t distracting me something else would;). Plus she does like to keep me company at my desk, so that’s nice. I am glad I can be home a lot for her first few weeks in the new home, too:).
Kali is adorable. I can’t wait to meet her!!!
Yay! I know, you need to come over soon!
she’s a cutie! and your gonna be a great mom! hehe. Now, go get that thesis DONE.
Yes ma’am! So close! Something tells me you are going to be a good mom, too, hehe;).
Oh my goodness, I love scrawny little precious tiny kittens!!!!!
She is definitely all of those things, haha!:) I’m in love!
Girl, finishing the thesis is far more important 🙂 Love that picture of you and your brother.
Such a cute little kitty you have!
Thank you! I know, the thesis IS more important…it’s just so hard to focus sometimes:). ALMOST. THERE.:)
Hells yeah for the tri! And I can’t believe I didn’t win…
And cats are so dumb lol. Loved the Fitblogger post today too!
Chuck!! Don’t be a hater. How can you say something that is small and fuzzy and adorable and loves to play and snuggle with you dumb? I think you’re just mad you didn’t win the contest;). I was going to say I felt really bad about that…until you hated on my kitten:).
Kali is so adorable!!! And it looks like she’s been a HUGE help in the thesis-writing department, so I’m glad you have someone to help you get it done. 🙂 Congrats on the new addition to your family.
So exciting that you signed up for a tri with your brother and husband. Good luck training!
Haha, oh yes, very helpful. I couldn’t believe when she decided to lay over my arm that I was in the process of typing with, hehe. Thanks, I’m excited!!
Kali is so CUTE!! Looks like she is very helpful in writing a thesis. ha ha 😉
It will be so much fun doing a tri with your brother and husband! I often wish I had a training partner or two.
Thank you for your comments on my blog BTW – your comments were going to my spam box, so I just found them! I now have you marked as “safe” ha ha
Thank you! I can’t believe they were going to spam. I had that problem on another friend’s blog. You would think wordpress would realize we’re not spam since we both have legit wordpress blogs, lol.
aw, your new kitten is super cute. I would get nothing done, just play all day 🙂
Yes…it has been a little bit distracting. But to be honest, if she wasn’t distracting me, something else probably would. So at least she’s a good one!:)

Congratulations on the new kitty!! What a cutie pie. By the way, everyone at work keeps asking me when (if) you’re coming back. I usually say “As soon as you leave” and that shuts them up. But seriously, everyone’s very excited that you’re at the home stretch and can’t wait until you come back. Good luck finishing the thesis!
Thanks!! I can’t wait to come back, too. Of course, I say that now, but the grass is always greener on the other side. I’m sure I’ll be wishing I was back at school in no time;). For now I’m looking forward to not ALWAYS having homework hanging over my head (every weekend/trip/second/etc:). Graduation is July 28 and then I am taking a week of vacation, so I will be in the second week in August. Still a little bit of time, but I will be there soon!:)
That kitty is soooo sweet!
I think it’s so cool that you’re doing a race with your brother and husband. My family isn’t into running at all, but I ran / walked a 5k with my sister and it was so much fun that she got my mom to sign up for another 5k with both of us 🙂
Thank you! Your bird is adorable, too! Yeah I’m really excited:). My husband did a few races with me (he even did a half marathon with me once!) but he hasn’t run with me lately. (It’s like he was just doing it to win me over and now that he got a ring on my finger he doesn’t feel the need to impress me, haha!;). But so I’m super shocked/excited that he agreed to do a tri! I really need to work with him in the pool so that he doesn’t drown, though. I would feel really bad if that happened on my watch….;)
I love the kitten!!!! My cat always sleeps on my keyboard or if not there then on my printer. I don’t have the heart to kick him off, he has also hung up on a client before…luckily I work in animal health and they think he is “cute”… Soooo excited about the giveaway, can’t wait to get the allied medal display!!
That is so cute!! I love that I’m not the only one that doesn’t have the heart to kick my cat off….too cute and I love the kitten time:). That’s so funny about him hanging up on a client, so funny:). Yay! Can’t wait to see your display!!
Congrats on your new family member 🙂 I am getting a puppy in 7 weeks and cannot wait!!
Thank you! Ohhh, so exciting!! What kind of puppy??
Aww what an adorable little cat! I am not much of a cat person but I think they always look so cute and precious~!
Haha, aww, well I’m glad you still think she’s cute, even if you’re not a big cat person:).
Your kitten is SO cute! And best of luck with the remainder of your thesis!! 😀
Thank you so much!! So happy to be close to the finish line!
