Unplugged

Happy Fourth of July, everyone!

These past few days have been all about unplugging–literally getting away from the computer and relaxing and enjoying some quality family time!

This weekend I went to the pool.

Laughed at my new kitten.

(Such bad manners, but she’s so adorable!)

Spent time with family.

(Do you think we look alike? Sometimes people mistake one of us for the other, but sometimes people tell us we don’t look like sisters!)

Ate lots of Fourth of July food.

(If it’s patriotic the calories don’t count, right??)

(Fruit pizza:)

Played some card games. (Oh yeah, and maybe indulged in a couple adult beverages, too;)

And cooked out and watched the fireworks with friends!

Basically, everything except this:

It was a GREAT weekend!

I did almost the same thing…and it was WONDERFUL. Glad you had a great weekend!

  2. That fruit pizza looks delicious! I think it’s important to get away from the computer and work every once and awhile

My last comment posted with my email instead of my name – you’re inputs boxes are the reverse of mine πŸ™‚ So delete that one, ok?

I’m glad your weekend was lovely. Spending time with family is great.

  4. Peanut Butter Bandit says:

    a) Of course the calories don’t count πŸ˜‰
    b) I want to make that fruit pizza!!!!

  5. Jillian says:

I really think it’s only the blonde hair blue eyes vs. brown hair brown eyes that throws people off! In that picture we definitely look like sisters! =]

  6. So glad you got away! Taking a break from technology feels so good. Your kitten is adorable, and you and the sis definitely look alike! And Apples to Apples, love that game πŸ˜€

  7. Good for you – you deserved a break! You definitely look like your sister!
We did a lot of BBQ-ing, relaxing, and running. Perfect weekend.
    Have a great week!

ooohhh, I love the fruit pizza/American flag idea for the 4th.

See you tonight! Thanks for coming to visit! xoxo!

  11. I was wondering where you were E!!! I thought the Thesis got the best of you πŸ™‚ but so glad you go to celebrate with family and friends! The calories totally DO NOT count!

    • I know, I’m sorry for disappearing AGAIN! The thesis did get the better of me in that it made me run far far away from the computer, hehe:). But I’m back and feeling much better after even just a long weekend of relaxation. It was great!!

  12. Stephanie says:

Sounds great! Glad you had such a good weekend πŸ™‚ and fourth. Missed you though. How is the thesis coming along? That cake looks awesome btw. what was the actual cake?

    • Thanks, Steph! The thesis is doing very well! I turned all five chapters into my chair and reader, and got edits back today. Will do a few rounds of edits, a TON of admin work, and then will FINALLY be done:).

The cake part is sugar cookie dough (store bought), rolled out on the bottom of a pizza tray (or cake pan if you don’t have a pizza pan, like me:). I’ll post the whole recipe tomorrow!:)

  13. Got my wisdom teeth out. Blick. Your family is adorbs!!!

  14. glad you guys had a great weekend! our cat is just as bad too – but it’s hard to get mad when they’re so stinking cute! πŸ™‚

  15. Sarah says:

Family time is the best and you guys really do look alike! I haven’t made fruit pizza in such a long time! I have totally forgotten about it and now I think I am going to have to make one. It looks soo good!

  16. Lauren says:

I had a very similar weekend – completely unplugged and spent lots of quality time with family. It was wonderful πŸ™‚ And no, calories don’t count when the food is patriotic – just like they don’t count on your birthday. Also, I think you and your sister look a lot a like!! Glad you had a good holiday!

  17. caratunkgirl says:

It is definitely zero calories if it is patriotic! πŸ™‚

    And unplugging is the best.

  18. Oh your cat is so adorable! Sounds like you had a great weekend! and I think you all look a lot like sisters. Oh I love San Francisco and I wish we were on our way there right now!! Hope you have an awesome time!

  19. I think you guys look very alike! What is funny is that people that know my sister and I think we look nothing alike because they know us. People that don’t know us think we look soooo similar. It’s weird!

    • Haha, we get such mixed comments! We have both been confused for the other (my sister’s best friend’s mom once thought I was her…uhm, really??), but then we also meet people and tell them we’re sisters and they say “really, you don’t look like sisters!” Definitely weird. Haha:)

  20. Karen says:

Ok, the picture with her head stuck in the cup is AMAZING! I can’t wait to meet her πŸ™‚

  21. Oh wow, it’s a good thing that fruit pie is 0 calories, because it looks incredible!

  22. patty says:

Glad you guys had a nice 4th of July weekend! Our’s was also “unplugged.” Too much picnicking & too much good food…but now that I know that anything patriotic has zero calories, I don’t feel so bad! BTW…that little kitten is SOOOOOOOOOOOOO adorable! Thanks for dinner last night. Very delish!! I was glad I got the chance to see you, Eric & Jillian. I hope to see ya’ll again real soon!
