Banana and Cocoa Oatmeal

This is one of my new favorite breakfasts!  It is incredibly healthy and filling and takes less than 10 minutes to make.  I don’t love plain oatmeal and the packaged kind has SO much sugar in it.  Cooking the banana in the oats gives the oatmeal a great flavor.  Pictured with some extra chocolate chips because I was having an extra-chocolate-needed kind of day!

Ingredients
1 banana
1 cup old fashioned oats
1 tablespoon cocoa powder (I like Hershey’s Special Dark, but any will do!:)
1/2 cup skim or reduced fat milk
1 cup water

Directions
Cut up the banana into small pieces, set aside half.  Place half of banana pieces in a small to medium sauce pot and add milk and water.  Bring liquid to a boil and add oats.  Simmer for about five minutes (or until desired consistency is reached).  Stir in one tablespoon of cocoa powder, place in bowl, and top with remaining banana pieces.
