Ode to Oatmeal

Tuesday workout: rest day.
——————————————

Oh, oatmeal, I missed you this past week. I am sorry that I let myself run out of yummy oatmeal ingredients, preventing me from eating you all week. I blame grad school finals, which kept me from grocery shopping.

I had no pumpkin to make pumpkin oatmeal with cranberries and dark chocolate peanut butter:(.

Or pumpkin oatmeal with sultanas, walnuts, and peanut butter.

Or baked pumpkin oatmeal with a dark chocolate peanut butter center.

I had no apples to make apple cinnamon oatmeal:(.

Or apple cinnamon oatmeal with walnuts and raisins.

I had no raisins to make baked oatmeal:(.

Or bananas to make cocoa and banana oatmeal with cranberries and coconut.

Or my favorite, cocoa and banana oatmeal with a few chocolate chips.

Or with dark chocolate peanut butter.

Or, when I’m feeling extra indulgent, a chocolate chip cookie crumbled on top (yes, I can turn any meal into dessert;). This was a big afternoon snack, not breakfast, if that makes it any better:)?

I am so sorry, oatmeal. I promise not to run out of ingredients to make you again. It’s been a long week without you, and I am happy to have you back in my life again.

Breakfast this morning. Yum!

This was by far the cutest post I have ever read. This is just too cute. This oatmeal makes me want to go out right now and buy all the stuff to make it. I wonder how it would be with Nutlella instead of dark chocolate pb. Unfortunately I am not a far of pb 😦

    • Oh my goodness, I bet it would be GREAT with Nutella! I love that stuff. I think you are the first person I have ever met that doesn’t like PB! But it’s okay, we can still be friends;).

      • Yelena says:

hehe 🙂 Yeah I am just not a fan for some reason. I don’t even like the smell too much. My dogs LOVE PB. They are so crazy over it. I buy Nutella in bulk (I admit it – I have Nutella-idious…in the worst form ever).
At whole foods they have actual dark chocolate oatmeal. It’s so good!

        • Oh wow, I’ll have to check that out next time I’m there. I love Nutella, too. I don’t buy it too much because it’s dangerous for me to have it in the house;). But then, it’s dangerous for me to have peanut butter, too…

  2. Oh my gosh, what a great post! I need to try these versions. I am usually pretty standard with my oats and just add bananas, cinnamon, honey, etc. (Classic) I need to try these cocoa varieties! Thanks!

  3. Wow after seeing these pictures I am ready to go make some oatmeal!

  4. That cocoa banana oatmeal has my name on it. And my grocery list has “bananas” on it. So we’re all good. Soon. Soon.

YIKES! Now I have to have some oatmeal. I love oatmeal…those recipes all look so good! Loved the “Ode to Oatmeal” too….

  6. Wow – you have so many creative variations on oatmeal!

My favorite way to eat oatmeal is with ice cream. You can’t lose with the hot/cold dynamic.

    • Creative, or “whatever Erin has in her cupboard today”? I’ll stick with yours, I like it better;).

Oh wow, I have not had it with ice cream! But I also had not had it with milk until I tried it at my Mother-in-law’s house, and I love the hot/cold combo on that. I bet ice cream is amazing!:)
